The HL-95 is powered by an air-depolarized primary cell battery with an extremely high capacity from a relatively small, lightweight package size.
A single battery used in flashing light output mode provides continuous use for up to 1500 hours or two months.
In static mode, where the lamp is constantly lit, the time increases up to 500 hours.
The operation of the lamp and the selection of flashing or static mode is carried out from a single three-position toggle switch mounted on the outside of the lamp. Further extension of battery life can be achieved by selecting 'daylight cut-off mode' via the internally mounted selection switch.
If the lamp is used outdoors, a resistor connected to the light detects when darkness falls and activates the lamp accordingly.
In the same way, it automatically turns off when light levels increase, saving battery energy.
It is estimated that a lamp set to flashing and daylight cut-off mode can work for up to six months on a single battery.
